Supplies need to be prepared

How to do it step by step

Method 1: Perform an ignition coil spark test

Step 1: Turn off the engine, open the hood to locate the ignition coil. Be sure to wear safety glasses or insulated tools to avoid electric shock.

Step 2: Remove one of the high voltage wires from its spark plug, it is recommended to use a replacement spark plug to test to avoid damaging the spark plug. Then start the car and observe the sparks between the gap of the test spark plug.

Step 7: Observe the spark color

When starting the engine, if the user notices a blue spark, it is a sign that the ignition coil is working normally. This flash can be seen through the spark plug gap and is especially obvious if observed during the day.

If an orange spark appears, it means that the coil is not providing enough power to the spark plug due to a connection error, damaged coil cover, etc. and when no spark is seen, the coil may be damaged and needs to be replaced. position.

Step 8: Install the spark plug and reconnect it to the wire in its original position.

Method 2: Check wire resistance

Step 1: Remove the ignition coil from the vehicle.

Step 2: Use an ohmmeter to measure resistance. Place the measuring leads of the ohmmeter on the electrodes of the primary and secondary coils.

Step 3: Observe the parameters. Normal standards for primary coil: 0.7 -1.7 Ω and 7,500 – 10,500 Ω for secondary coil.

If the resistor value is outside the specifications even by a small amount, you should take the car to a center to be checked and replaced because they may be damaged.
